Who is responsible

Your Kind of City is run by Shaun Moynihan, trading as Your Kind of City, a sole proprietor. We are the controller of the personal data described here, which means we decide how and why it is used.

Postal address: 15017 Dayton Drive, Hudson, FL 34667, USA. Email: hello@yourkindofcity.com.

What we collect

Account details: your email address, your name if you give it, and the sign-in details from the method you use (Google, Facebook, or email with a password or a one-time link). If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your email and basic profile from them, nothing more.

Quiz answers: the preferences and priorities you enter in the free quiz and the paid questionnaire, so we can rank cities for you.

Cost Reality Check inputs: the household, budget and location details you give us to model your cost of living.

Purchase records: what you bought, when, and the Stripe payment reference. We never see or store your card number; you enter card details on Stripe, not on our site.

Page-view analytics: We use Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate page-view counts; it does not use cookies and does not track you across sites. Before anything leaves your browser we remove ids from page addresses (for example report and share links), so the address cannot identify you or open your report.

Server logs: our hosting keeps basic technical logs (such as the page requested, time and errors) so we can keep the site running and fix problems.

Launch list

If you join the launch list from our coming-soon page, we store your email address, the time you signed up and the page you signed up from ('coming-soon'). We use it only to send you one email when the site launches. We do not send marketing beyond that, and we do not sell or share the address; it is held in our database provider's systems (Supabase, listed below). Shaun Moynihan, trading as Your Kind of City is responsible for it. To be removed, email hello@yourkindofcity.com from that address and we will delete it.

Cookies and device storage

We use cookies and your browser’s storage only to make the product work: keeping you signed in, the key that links your Cost Reality Check to your browser so only you can open it, and your answers and currency choice saved on your device so you can pick up where you left off.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Why we use it, and our legal bases

Contract: to provide what you signed up for or bought, such as your account, your city ranking, your Cost Reality Check and access to your reports.

Legitimate interests: to keep the site secure and working, to understand which pages are used, and to answer your messages.

Legal obligation: to keep purchase records for tax and accounting.

Consent: where we ask for it. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Who processes it for us

Supabase runs our database and sign-in. Your account, quiz answers, Cost Reality Check inputs, purchase records and any launch-list sign-up are stored there.

Payments, tax and receipts are handled by Stripe and Link; they receive your name, email, billing address and payment details.

Vercel hosts the site and provides the page-view analytics described above.

Google or Facebook, only if you choose to sign in with them.

What we never do

We do not run ads. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers. There are no third-party advertising or tracking pixels on the site.

International transfers

We and our providers process data in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on the safeguards our providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Your account, quiz answers and Cost Reality Check inputs: while your account exists, or until you ask us to delete them.

Purchase records: for as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to access the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or receive a copy to take elsewhere. You can object to how we use it and withdraw any consent you have given. You can also complain to your data protection authority, for example the ICO in the UK.

To use any of these rights, email hello@yourkindofcity.com. We reply within one month.

Children

Your Kind of City is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the date at the top.
